Where can I find a list of healthy addictions?

Confusion

I really don’t think this site is a healthy addiction. It spurs laziness and stupidity. Gets your brain either on a “I’m getting the fuck outta here” mindset or a “I’ll give quick and stupid answers to fit in” mindset. Neither say much for the value of the website.

I want a list of healthy addictions.

That, or a way to work toward making an addiction healthier. Say for example, using this site to be a better person instead of just being a short answer addict.

I’m addicted to oxygen and water, with a little food from time to time.

Hmmmm. There is no such thing as a healthy addiction. Because even if you are addicted to doing good things, it is possible that you get a mindset of doing good things, and forget about being a good person and ignore those around.

The nature of addiction indicates a loss of control and self-centeredness.

There is no such thing as a “healthy addiction.” Being addicted to anything is bad for you. You need to find balance in your life. Everything in moderation.

i wouldn’t be able to stand it myself if i gave a shorter answer than what i was thinking–i always have much to say, sometimes enough to get me into trouble for it. i can’t say i’d call this a long answer, but i really don’t have much on the subject–however, if you get the list, could you get back to me? thanks.

That’s a contradiction:the term “addiction” implies something that has control of you, not vice-versus, which, in and of itself, is not healthy.

Yes, that is something of a contradiction of terms. I.e. if you were addicted to running and lost a leg in an accident, it might have a more profound effect on you than if you had a more balanced workout routine that would still allow you to feel fit. Anything that is all-consuming in action and thought is a problem.

I use answers for fun sometimes to write humorous responses, seriously when people are looking for serious advice and sometimes I am just wasting time. With some thoughtful answers I receive good feedback and that makes this forum worthwhile.

I am glad you suckered me into your gripe about this site. I must say why are you staying here if you think it is just an unhealthy thing to do?
I love this site. It is the best way to handle my depression about grief that I have ever tried. It lets me get my mind on helping someone and is never boring.
On this site, I can pick questions I am knowlegable about and answer them and no one interrupts, no one tells me to hush, no one does any of those things. I mean can you say that for the real world? doubt it.
It relaxes me and I can sleep better if I do not sit and think of bad things in my rest time. I can think of the answers I have given and then I feel better instantly. I hope you can see my point to this.
It is a way of helping others in a positive way. I have met many people from other countries and now I look at the wars and things there in a persona; way. I know someone who lives there. It is a way to bring me into a more personal relationship with something bigger than me and my depression.
